Hell Games - Origin Story

Originally, we wanted to develop a set of mini-games inspired by Olympic sports: sprinting, swimming, hammer throwing, and so on. But during the development, we realized: that’s not us.

We’re in the mood for something darker, more unconventional. Something that sticks with you.

And over a beer the idea struck us: why not shed light on the dark side of games? What happens to Olympians who’ve cheated their way to medals through doping? They end up in hell. Condemned to fight for victory for all eternity.

Voilà, Hell Games was born. It’s a brawler with a dark and edgy twist.

We’ve been fans of this genre and enjoyed competing with friends and siblings throughout our lives. And that’s what we want our players to experience.

About Voodoo Circus

Voodoo Circus is an independent game development studio founded in 2014 by Daniel and Thomas, longtime friends united by a passion for creating memorable multiplayer experiences.

In 2020, Sabine and Philipp joined the team. Together, the four bring decades of professional game development experience, having contributed to titles such as Crysis 2 (Crytek), Dreadnought (Yager Development), Be Red Cloud (Scorpius Forge) and Fight Die Repeat (Electronauts).

With Hell Games the team set out to create the kind of party game they love to play themselves: easy to pick up, endlessly replayable, and built around those unforgettable moments of laughter, rivalry, and "just one more round."
